The Department of Employment (DOE) has introduced a streamlined process for urgent work permit applications. Applications for work that must be completed within 15 days can now be submitted electronically through the e-Work Permit system at eworkpermit.doe.go.th

Key steps for Submission

  • Foreign workers, employers, and authorized representatives can submit applications for urgent work permit under Section 61, Form BT. 34 through the website eworkpermit.doe.go.th.
Click the menu “Work Permit Application” then select “Notification of work that is necessary, urgent, or a special task with a work duration to be completed within 15 days”.
  • Applicants can search for an existing registered foreign worker or add a new one (if not yet registered), then proceed to submit the application online and attach all required supporting documents as per the form.
  • Once the application is submitted successfully, it will be reviewed in order by the officer, the assistant registrar, and the registrar for approval.
  • After approval, the system will issue the work permit document to the applicant, which can be opened under the e-Tracking menu.

Conditions

For employers acting as coordinators for foreign film productions in Thailand or those involved in mega events or concerts, the employer may submit the application on behalf of the foreign worker. In such cases, the foreign worker does not need to register or log into the e-Work Permit system.

Why This Matters

This update reduces paperwork, shortens processing time, and improves compliance for urgent assignments in Thailand. Employers and foreign workers can now submit, track, and receive approvals online, making urgent work permit management more efficient.
